Share Your Best Photo of the Day

Message added by aveschapinas,

Folks: it's not OK to take other people's photos to edit and re-post. Just like we don't correct each other's spelling and grammar, we don't take it upon ourselves to decide that someone's photo needs correction. In addition, as has been emphasized before, you need to respect copyright.

That’s an amazing photo! The sweet light!

Ty - Things are working better in auto mode with the flash up but set to only fire when necessary.  The flash didn't fire here and everything else about the lighting is original; no exposure compensation and no photoshop.

Exposure compensation and photoshop is fine, as long as it is done properly. For example, don’t make a photo look unnatural, but you can adjust exposure and contrast.

Don't know if you're aware of it but most built in flashes are only going to have an effective range of 10 to 20 feet.  If the bird you are photographing is any further away then that the flash won't have any effect. You would need a stronger external flash for more distant subjects & those even have a limited range. You can get a flash extender to increase the range somewhat. Here's an example;

I have one but stopped using it since I'll usually shoot multiple frames of a bird & the flash takes time to recharge so it's basically only good for a single shot at a time.
