Folks: it's not OK to take other people's photos to edit and re-post. Just like we don't correct each other's spelling and grammar, we don't take it upon ourselves to decide that someone's photo needs correction. In addition, as has been emphasized before, you need to respect copyright.

1. Not tack sharp, but that only lowers .5-1 star for me. The main things here are the distracting background, the bird’s pose(looking away from the camera), and the high shooting angle. When possible, try to get exactly eye level with the bird. If it’s on the ground, that means laying down on the ground(I understand this isn’t possible for all people), and even if the bird isn’t on the ground, doing your best to get eye level will make the photo much more appealing. If the bird is on the ground, getting eye level will also make the background look cleaner. Also, the more distant a background is, the more out of focus it will be. The higher quality the lens is, the better it will dissolve backgrounds, but I’ve gotten some pretty clean background with the camera you’re using.

Thanks so much! That helps a lot. Unfortunately it wasn't really possible in this case as the bird was on a hill sloping up away from me.

Be sure to check out those videos if you get a chance! He has lots of other great videos as well. There are other youtubers with great bird photography content as well.

Wait, why 1/60? The exif data shows that your ISO was only 100. On the R7 you can push it much higher, I’m comfortable going to 3200, and if you have good noise reduction software, you can go higher.

I'll go with this Red Junglefowl chick.  I thought I had a lifer in the field, but for my county, Ebird is characterizing the bird as Exotic: Escapee, and for this observation, the site didn't add 1 to my overall species observed count, so I'll adhere to Ebird's standards and not claim a lifer:
