It looks more brownish-gray than green to me.    I'm persuadable; tell me what I'm missing.

It's a Painted Bunting. There are other differences in plumage and structure that distinguish them besides color.

I'm with you on that. I'm not taking pictures for "likes" or artistic reasons, but because I like to take pictures and specifically of birds and other animals.

Same, I also realize it doesn't matter how many ratings or likes a photo gets, as long as I'm happy with it. I was getting way too worked up over when my photos got bomb and all the criticism so I just basically stopped posting photos on ebird and don't post my really good photos anywhere online anymore.

Ruby-throated Hummingbird.  My backyard, Lexington County, central SC.

It's not my best shot of the day but it's the best one I've taken trying to 'freeze' a hummie's wings.  The angle of the morning sun put the feeder in a narrow shadow, making it hard to work with the dark feeder and bright bird.

Had a neighbor call and tell me that there was a large flock of nighthawks in the neighborhood. They are hard to get a good pic of because they are so erratic. I looked it up and a flock of nighthawks is called a "kettle"
