Tonight a group of Scissortail Flycatchers was active on the tree just outside the back yard.  The first photo is a group of 3, and the second is of one swallowing what appears to be a grasshopper.

Whoah! Stunning. Hopefully the vagrant activity picks up down here, there’s lots of migrant warblers right now but no goodies!

I sometimes forget how much birds can vary from East to West. Here they are pretty much a trash bird because of how common they are. I'd love some western rarities to show around here. I have to say for my local 3 counties I think this has been the worst year since I started birdwatching in terms of rarities showing up. There has been nothing all summer...

It has been much quieter than the last 3 years for sure in the state.

I’d suggest not cutting off the tail and legs. If you’re not going to include the whole bird it should be a tighter headshot.
