Sue Ailsby
Today I saw a medium gray bird, somewhat larger than a blackbird. It had a light throatlatch and a pale chest/belly. It’s tail seemed to be flat across the bottom edge, with a bright white line running along the tips of the tail feathers. I thought it would be easy to ID when I got home but I can’t find it. It was perched in carragana bushes. As I came up on it, it flitted off about 20’ to a fence post, then back to the brush. The flight was not smooth. Southern Saskatchewan, farmland and pasture with brush around a dugout. Sorry, no photo.
Charlie Spencer
Welcome to Whatbird! Sounds like a species of kingbird or flycatcher, especially the behavior. I'm not familiar with what you have in Saskatchewan, but someone else will likely nail it. Edited July 8, 2021 by Charlie Spencer
Bird Brain
Welcome to Whatbird! I agree with Charlie...sounds like an Eastern Kingbird to me, with the white tip on it's tail.

I didn't know if they're found that far north / west, and I was too tired to check.
