Sparrow, thrush, other?

Recommended Posts

I have been seeing this bird on walks for several years now. I spot it mostly in May and June at the Lincoln Marsh in Wheaton Illinois.  It catches insects on the wing and by stalking them from the weedy/ algae covered surface of the marsh.  I have pictures of adults and juveniles.  The closest birds I can match them to are the savanna sparrow and the northern waterthrush, however, neither is a one for one match.    Thanks in advance!!

Oh wow!!  Thanks a ton.  Never even thought female red-winged.  I don't think my old bird book even has a picture of a female red-winged blackbird.  The Cornell Lab web page picture is exact.  Really, thank you.  You guys are great!
