wmff
Southwest lower Michigan, wooded area, spotted on a bike trail. No adults seen or heard. Tried searching for the young birds common in our area but came up empty.

Quiscalus quiscula
Yup, Northern Cardinal. Saw a chick just like this one with parents on my deck just a few days ago! It was being taught to fly.
wmff
Thanks everyone. Without some red feathers I don't know how I could have ever recognized this one. It was on a bike trail so I hope it didn't get run over but I took the advise that young birds/animals in the wild should be left alone - the parent is likely nearby and knows what is best. Thanks again.
