chipperatl 682
I first spotted this bird on the shore, and the light (nearly white) forehead spot was clearly there, but the body seemed light. I later managed some very tough flight shots, and put it down as a Barn Swallow (there was another Barn Swallow along with a few Rough-winged and about 50-60 Tree Swallows). Looking back through these pics I'm not so sure there isn't some Tree Swallow mixed in with it. Wish I could have gotten better pics. Bird definitely has a thin breast-band, with some light rufous around the head and light spot on the forehead. Wings very much like Barn Swallow, longer and pointed. Head and body (minus tail) seem rather stocky like Tree Swallow. Longer tail, but seem short even for juvenile Barn Swallow, with extensive white on it Lighter wings underneath. Back blue color looks more like Tree Swallow than Barn Swallow. Most things point to just Barn Swallow. But it just doesn't totally look right to me. Interested in any thoughts. I can't find anything online to compare to, and there are only two reports in eBird. _91A1802.jpg by chipperatl2, on Flickr _91A1819.jpg by chipperatl2, on Flickr _91A1818.jpg by chipperatl2, on Flickr _91A1825.jpg by chipperatl2, on Flickr _91A1838.jpg by chipperatl2, on Flickr _91A1839.jpg by chipperatl2, on Flickr

akiley 1,153
Looks like it could be an abnormal Barn, but I’m not sure. Are there known records of that hybrid combo?
Creeker 193
Looks good for Barn Swallow to me. I think that hybrid combo would be tough, what with the entirely different nesting habits (cavity in tree vs building a mud nest.)
