BlueJay
All were seen today in east Germany near Leipzig and Halle am Salle. The first one is probably a Mallard but I would like to make sure. The second I can't decide between Herring or Yellow-legged Gull, the third I need confirmation on Eurasian Marsh-Harrier, the fourth I have it narrowed down to a species of Flycatcher, and the fifth I have no clue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/357982221 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/357981741 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/357981961 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/357982151 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/357982451
Seanbirds
1. Pattern looks wrong for Mallard. Female Gadwall. 2. Herring. I think I can see pink legs. 3. Dark morph Common Buzzard. 4. To be honest, I’m not quite sure. The wing pattern is confusing me. 5. Common Chaffinch. Female?

Connor Cochrane
Isn’t 4 just a Spotted Flycatcher? They were pretty common when I was in Italy.

Seanbirds
Now that looks like a Spotted Flycatcher, which would confirm Connor’s theory.

Above picture looks just like the one I saw a Germany. How come Spotted Flycatcher looks gray in some lights and brown in others?

Quiscalus quiscula
Just now, Seanbirds said: It’s because they’re gray-brown. That was what confused me in my identification of my spotted flycatcher. In most photos of Spotted flycatcher, it looks very gray, with little brown. But my flycatcher looked quite brown.
