neilpa
Had a few Redheads and Ring-necked Ducks yesterday, a few winter ducks on the last day of summer.
meghann
We're having a front push through right now in Georgia, and my yard was crazy birdy this morning, but of course everything stayed too high up in the canopy to get an id on anything. Lots of birds playing Portal, too.
floraphile
Well, this is exciting news. Tips, anyone? Maybe I will try and record some NFCs tonight. Are particular times better or worse?
PaulK
Four different types of warblers in my patch today, along with a very out of place catbird that I didn't know was rare. https://ebird.org/checklist/S94986785

meghann
We've officially reached the "Is it a warbler, butterfly, falling yellow leaf, or drop of water hitting the leaves to make them move like that?" stage of fall birding here in Georgia. 2

Yes, they’re not terribly rare here in the summer but a lot more common in the winter.

Yeah, now that it's fall, I have to squint to see if the leaf falling is a goldfinch or just a leaf.
Peromyscus
This morning I played hooky again, and went to the nearby big park. I saw a Red-headed Woodpecker fly high overhead, and had a brief view of what appeared to be a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker flying low and not overhead. There was a Ruby-crowned Kinglet in a tree; I only saw three warblers (2 redstarts and a Black-throated Green), but the two Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, one an adult male, hanging out together made up for the lack of parulids. It was cool, calm, and sunny.

I might be going to a nearby place that is supposed to be good for warblers, though, so I just might get one.

Peromyscus
Yesterday morning we saw 4 Palm Warblers (3 Western, 1 Yellow), and a number of other warblers. This morning my wife saw a female Rose-breasted Grosbeak and we both saw 8 Broad-winged Hawks lifting up, and a Common Raven.
