Connor Cochrane
I couldn't find a topic for this, though maybe I just missed it. This is for photos of the night sky: Landscapes, The Moon, and Stars all work. Because of the smoke the moon was really Orange today. I've never really tried night photography before, and I'm sure I used incorrect technique (maybe I can try again tomorrow), but I ended up using an 1/4 second exposure to capture this photo.

lonestranger
Just after sunset a few nights ago. I overexposed the moon a bit while trying to get the best exposure to show the colours the clouds were catching.

The Bird Nuts
One more! For now... :) I know it's not a great photo, but it's Jupiter and three of its moons.

I love these! Are you using the same setup as for birding? I got a pic of Jupiter with my old point and shoot two years ago but it’s difficult now with my DSLR.

I took the crescent moon photo with my birding setup, but the Jupiter photo was taken with my point-and-shoot and the others were taken with a DSLR and an 18-55mm lens. I just recently got the 18-55mm, I’ll have to try it out when I go to the family property next (Light pollution is bad down here :/)

Yeah, it's a lens that comes in a Nikon kit (AF-P Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR). But they are probably pretty similar.

Except it is almost 3x more expensive than the Nikon. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Bird Nuts
Nice clear sky last night, but my lens kept fogging up, so I didn't get many keepers. I think some low fog was moving through. I believe the large bright thing at the far left is either Jupiter or Saturn.

Was wondering about technique. The ones with lit up foregrounds, did you use flash along with a long exposure?
meghann
A few of mine, moon taken through our telescope (a lovely 8 inch dobsonian) by holding my camera up to the eyepiece. Lol. Fuzzy, but. . .Saturn! And the eclipse in 2017, featuring Mercury just to the right of the sun, and a plane on the right.
