SirVive
I had this idea a while back so when we went to the coast last week I faced my worst fear in life and went ... window shopping antique/decor shops in a tourist town😩 Had to take along my mother-in-law for moral support 😄 Four stores later I finally found a sandpiper I was happy with. Finding the perfect piece of driftwood was an easy matter - only involving a 5 mile walk along the beach with my Love and my binos. Did the woodburning and mounting once we got home and surprised her with it. The phrase is a reference to a story that I read in an old book my parents have. My wife is a childhood leukemia survivor and loves the beach hence the nostalgia. (found a copy of it posted here online if you want to read it https://mygoodtimestories.com/2018/01/08/a-sandpiper-to-bring-you-joy/ )
neilpa
A while back I experimented with "vectorizing" some of my photos and thought this Marbled Godwit turned out pretty good
Birds are cool
My shutter speed was to low, causing the wing to be blurry because this little guy was attacking the other Sanderlings. Kinda cool how it turned out!

Is the calendar just for friends and family, or are you going to make it more widely available?

GracesWarbler
I'm making postcards! They're on thick, uncoated paper, so people can color them and send them to friends and family. They also have bird facts and colors on the back. Here's a prototype. I'll probably make packs of 20, with 5 different designs in each pack. Any suggestions for revisions? Edited November 1 by GracesWarbler I attached the wrong picture.
GracesWarbler
I'd like to get into watercolors. Here's some Mallards! Can anyone recommend a good introduction to watercolors? @The Bird Nuts or others? Any good videos, books, or other resources? Thanks!

I learned mostly myself as I already had experience with acrylics, so I don't know of something for beginners. But my favorite watercolorist on YouTube is Steve Mitchell of The Mind of Watercolor. Watching him paint might help you understand how watercolor works and the way it should be layered, etc. He also gives recommendations for supplies. Happy painting!! Watercolors are so much fun! 1
