Caley Thomas 2.0
Well, the worst part of this story I'll start off with: while I found my target birds, I arrived so long into the tooth of the crepuscular hour that my bridge camera wouldn't even think about making a respectable picture of the sightings, but I decided to make an exception for this bird, due to the effort involved in encountering it on a work day. So, in lieu of personal pictures, I invite you to look up a bird called a Northern Red Bishop, if you're not already familiar that is. I was able to see a male and female right as the sun was setting, amidst an absolute swarm of dragon flies deeply embroiled within a frenzied feast upon an even larger contingency of mosquitos, just on the fringe of some posh, plastic, cookie-cutter type subdivision located on the SW side of Houston (area called Sugar Land). It was a very unique, albeit borderline manic, adventure to see a new bird before the end of the week for me. It's not every day you get to see a bird here in the states, in the wild, which normally only lives on other continents, so I thought I would share. Cheers to 315!
meghann
I regret to this day that I didn't become a birder until after we left Texas, I mean, I grew up in Houston for pete's sake. I've done a manic trip to get a bird before, that luckily also paid off. Hooray for life birds!
Charlie Spencer
I've twitched exactly twice, the first time and the last, and I did them both at once. Too much stress.
