floraphile
Sorry, All--I just saw this forum is only for NA birds. In the previous WhatBird version, couldn't we delete/edit our posts after posting? Where should I post these CR birds for ID?
Aveschapines
As you can see, the forums are still bare-bones at this point; there's a thread about choosing the forums to set up, but it hasn't been done yet. Meanwhile I think it's OK to leave them here, until the new forums are set up. I don't like to click on photo links for a variety of reasons, but I'll take a look and see if I can confirm your tanager.
Aveschapines
I'm sorry, but I couldn't see the bird well enough to identify it in the photos, and I couldn't zoom in. Can you crop the pictures, and preferably upload them here or embed them so they show up in the thread? Thanks!
floraphile
Sure, thanks, again. :)
Aveschapines
Hard to be 100% sure from these photos, but especially the second one looks good for a Blue-Gray Tanager to me. Seeing them in a city would fit too, as long as there were some trees and shrubs around.
floraphile
There were trees and shrubs around. An oasis in the city. Thank you!
floraphile
and it should be illegal to travel to Central America--especially Costa Rica--without a good birding camera and lens. I plan to go back just to bird and herp. 1
cevans2
I would say BG Tanager.
