chipperatl
Michigan might have its first record of Pink-footed Goose. This is ID'ed as a Greater White-fronted Goose on the checklist, but another birder posted on Discord that it looks like Pink-footed. https://ebird.org/checklist/S133363922

Obviously those are rarer, but it’s definitely possible, especially Tundra.

Those pics show a white tail, so I think that rules out either Bean-goose. Edited April 11 by chipperatl

PFGO have a much paler dark band, the bean geese bands are slightly darker, and GWFG band is black.

My waterfowl ID guide does show a pale grey band on the PFGO and darker band on the other birds. There are other birders on it this morning, and saying it is a PFGO. Bucket list bird for me, but 6 hour round-trip and this thing called “work”….can’t wait to retire.

From the new photos, I think the bill is too short for a bean goose.

I weighed maybe 175 or 180 lbs at that point.

I was also told by some other birders that standing up in my Jeep didn't count as sunroof list. Apparently they kept a sunroof list. Also with top all the way down, have stood up in back of Jeep with scope out. Even have balanced with one leg on open tailgate on Jeep trying to look down into the dump drainage pond at gulls. Pretty sure any car post 1972 wouldn't support my weight on the roof though. 😁

Not sure, but I have to drive through it to get to Miami. Also, I need to be careful of trips now, as many gas stations have no gas, since the flooded (or formerly flooded) port areas are where the trucks need to pick up the gas from. After work, I'm going after a Palm Beach County rarity, a Brown-crested flycatcher. Hopefully, I'll see y'all in the "Lifers" thread tonight. 🙂
