Willow Warbler, yes. the Turtle Dove and Common Cuckoo are code 4 and 3 respectively, I think. The fact that some species are regular in Alaska really skews the coding.

I thought Willow Warbler was a code 4?

You're right. Apparently, Marsh Sandpiper is also now a Code 4. It was a 5 when I saw it. I guess I've seen lots of Code 4's...and only one current Code 5.

Thanks! I had misunderstood how this worked and thought it was based off of provincial/state-specific lists.

That’s how this thread is intended. Code 4+ or birds on a state/province records committee review list. The latter being a superset of the former.

eBird reports Code 3's on ABA Rarities Alerts.

Sure does! There are so many code 4s that have only ever been seen in Alaska!

Yea. I wish there was a variant that was code 4. But even then it’s not terribly useful since you get all the checklists for the same bird.

I'd prefer an ABA Continental that includes the Hawaiian birds that are now considered Code 2, but were 3 or higher before.

Sometimes people will rate rare bird photos really high, even if they are very low. It's a three.

Yeah that always annoyed me because eBird clearly says ratings shouldn’t be influenced by rarity. Doesn’t matter that much but it still bugs me.

OMG.

And an Artic Term too!

Ha! I didn't even notice that on the check list.

The Collier County Large-billed Tern hasn't been reported today :classic_sad:, though the Brevard County one has been. Two days ago I was looking at Southwest Airlines flights from Baltimore to Fort Myers airports, finding 2 iirc non-stop flights each day. My fantasy trip would have started today, and lasted through Saturday. I was not actually planning on going, but I thought I'd just see.

I could definitely fly from Baltimore to Nassau County for the White-winged Tern (and Arctic Tern too). But, the WWTE wasn't reported after mid-morning to eBird. Of course it could come back tomorrow... But I'm not going after that bird either. (I have seen it and Arctic Tern about 3 or so times each in this country.)
