Today:

Eastern Phoebe in Island County, WASHINGTON https://ebird.org/checklist/S98516744

That was the only new one. The rest was discussion about previous birds. The Gray Kingbirds of ME and NY are still continuing, as well as the Elaenia species in Illinois, that is being highly cooperative by all accounts.

Dang, I'll be driving right by there on Thursday on my way home, in darkness. ?

I feel your pain, I drove home from New Mexico right by a location with both a Northern Shrike and Long-eared Owl, and wasn't able to stop.

I'm pretty sure the Owl is still there. Just let me know if you wanna go try again.

I'd love to go, but it would be a two hour round trip for my parents to drop me off at your house, and then again to pick me up, and I hate to ask that.

It would only be an hour and a half round trip ?  If you could spend the night at your sister's, I could take you back there, and maybe she could take you home and have a visit ?  I'm pretty flexible, if you figure out a way.

Village Creek Drying Beds, Arlington? Me @Liam and @Michelle Summers when to see the Shrike.

Yep. Liam told me it was probably for the best that I didn't stop, since it's a long stakeout and we were in the middle of a 22 hour road trip. My kids would have rioted if we made it longer, since they had already put up with two birding detours on the way home.

I tried. They'll humor me, but it didn't really stick. They're all mostly grown now with minds of their own. THE NERVE!!!

Just tell them you're getting ready to trade them in for a couple of the kids on here who are begging their parents to take them:classic_cool:

If those same kids on here do their homework and keep their rooms hygienic (doesn't have to be clean, just hygienic) then we might have a deal. ?

If you saw how clean my room is you'd be amazed. But I am afraid I can't come, I have too long a yard list and too many rare birds for the county to have to start over, somewhere else.

When there’s a will, there’s a way! Sat down at dinner last night and got an email from my professor telling me I was exempted from my exam the next day! So, I’ll be able to try for that hummer after all! And in daylight!

Thanks! Didn’t get to see it, as we didn’t have time to wait for hours. But, that’s one I’m willing to let go with ease. Another reason to go out west! Plus, got to see some different parts of Ohio than just I-71!

Sometimes it pays to be diligent at your school BEFORE there is an urgent reason why you wish you had.
