zbird
Hi guys, I saw plenty of birds along the highway while driving through Kansas a few weeks ago. I managed to snap a couple pictures (I wasn't driving!) - one hawk, and one power line bird; maybe a meadowlark?

Trevor L.
1 is giving me the vibe of a juvenile European Starling. 2 is a Red-tailed Hawk. You can tell mainly due to the streaky band across the belly.

I could be wrong
Kadynn_H
The white eyebrow, pale bill and contrasting colors between the upper body and underside would suggest Meadowlark Sp.
zbird
Thanks! I was thinking red-tailed, but I wanted to double check since I couldn't actually see a red tail!

But the belly band does not look well defined, you can see a pretty prominent eyebrow, and the bill is rather small...

A Merlin would be much smaller in comparison to the sign and would not have a unstreaked patch on the chest.
