Clip
I don't get stumped by sparrows much any more but this April 2015 taken in Pawnee National Grasslands has me wondering if I came across a Botteri's Sparrow. This would be rare of sure in the area but the lack of any stripe on the top of the head has very curious what others might say. I did a bit of browsing in ebird photos of the species and found some variation in colors...but this photo looks pretty darn similar to my bird: https://ebird.org/media/catalog?taxonCode=botspa&q=Botteri's Sparrow - Peucaea botterii The link didn't work like I had hoped. I was trying to get just one photo but this might be better any way. Edited October 19, 2021 by Clip

Clip
I didn't even consider a House Sparrow! Silly me! I can't recall ever seeing a House Sparrow in this part of the Grasslands so it never occurred to me. Thanks guys!
