@Birding Boy Last night I dreamt we were birding up in Michigan in the winter and we came up on this tree that looked pink because it was PACKED full of mainly House Finches but also Northern Cardinals and probably Purple Finches! So anyway I was scanning one side of the tree and you were going around the other when you said "Hey Sean, lifer! Pine Grosbeak." So I got around the other side of the tree next to where you were and I saw it!! It was a lot tinier that I was expecting, about the size of a HOFI ?. So of course I had my camera up, and it was beautiful lighting, and a great situation all around, but then da STUPID AUTOFOCUS wouldn't work right and it flew off before I could get a single shot!! ??

Not a bird dream but a good peek into this weird phenomenon we call dreaming. Last week I was finally passed out on the hospital couch for my one chance at a one hour nap in the 24. Had one of those long vivid dreams that you can remember when you wake up - all took place at my aunt's house and a bunch of people I knew involved and some lady I didn't know bringing my wife some hot pack thing she had made out of soaking diapers in hot water, etc.  I woke up to an empty room and started telling my wife about this weird dream. She says 'That all happened' !  The nurse had come in while I was out and my ears were like Alexa - constantly taking in noise and trying to make sense of it. My brain took what I was hearing subconsciously and filled in the image the best it could - of course the thing she made looked nothing like what I saw but was pretty much made of all the same materials, a lot of the words spoken were real but in my dream the wrong people said them , etc.  I found it pretty funny and fascinating.

Wow, that's crazy! I wonder if any of my bird dreams have been influenced that way... ??

No for real though if I found out a Snowy Owl had actually been sitting outside my window while I was dreaming about it I probably woulda died ?

I had one of those recently, generally I can't remember more than that I dreamed but this one I can still remember-

I was will a guy and we where coming into Graford from the lake(really helpful right?), and at the four way stop there was two Crested Caracaras flying around in the field behind the county barn(you had just better get used to the location references), and my friend asked if one of them wasn't a Peruvian Caracara, after we both looked through my bins we agreed it was. After that, my friend was just gone, and I had turned right, like I was headed to Mineral Wells, and there where the meat processing place is next to Kinkade's(I'm not totally sure I am spelling the name right) was a pond(there is not one really there though), the pond that was in my dream is a real pond somewhere west of us, but I can't remember where. Anyway, the pond was overflowing with birds, which included a Shoebill, a bird that was like a Hamerkop, but it had a smaller version of a Shoebill's bill, and last but not least was a small, white, cone shaped egret thing. You know how in cartoons a character will be hiding in bush, and they pick the bush up and take off walking, the only part of them you see being their legs, well that was this bird. It was kind of like a hunting Black Heron, except it was built that way, and never came out that position.

After that I got home and started posting my photos here, and on eBird and nobody seemed to care.

The end,

I had a crazy dream about birding in my backyard that started out with a cardinal and a tufted titmouse then suddenly a river appeared and there were two redheads, two Lesser Scaup, a Tufted Duck, and 4 YELLOW RAILS

Sounds great! All of the waterfowl would be lifers for me. (And of course the rail!!!)
