Those Almost Good shots

This is from less than a year ago.  I had recently retired and had bought a good camera for my traveling and so I could try out wildlife photography as a hobby.  I am sitting at my kitchen table reading the user manual when a hawk landed in a tree in my back yard.  I really had no idea what I was doing, but I fired off a couple of shots with my new camera.  All in all, it was not a terrible picture.  But in my haste and confusion with operating the camera, I did not get it fully in frame and cut off its tail!   Other than some test shots at my kitchen wall, this was the first "real" picture with my new camera.

So Nat Geo and I aren't on the same page.  This is what I get when the sun is shining directly into my lens and the subject is inside a dark place.   I gotta wait for a cloudy day to try it again.  I don't think this pair is going to be going anyplace.    This is highly photoshopped!

Mostly the other members' patience?

Inserting a photo.  I couldn't find a more appropriate place to test it.  For some reason I've always had trouble getting consistent results uploading photos here.  (That's most embarrassing for a network administrator!).  Dragging and dropping never worked for me before the '18 crash.  I had a method that was working, and I had notes about how I was doing it, but it stopped working this week.

For giggles, I tried drag-and-drop for the first time since the reboot and it worked.  Go figure.  Then I deleted the photo to avoid cluttering up the thread any further.
