Those Almost Good shots

Male peregrine falcon at State Line Lookout in Palisades Interstate Park (NJ) yesterday, leaping from the branch he’d been perched on for the last 15 minutes.  With my camera trained on him the entire time, I said there’s no way I’ll be missing this shot.  Well, on account of foliage right beside the tree, unfortunately I wasn’t able to set the frame any further to the right - but then even so, the result would’ve been the same as many of the other posts in this thread.

Thanks, whoever started this one, for giving us aspiring photographers to salvage a bit of “ALMOST got that perfect shot” from the jaws of defeat (i.e. the trash bin).  And I’m sure it comes as a surprise to exactly NO ONE, here, but…

Peregrines are quick!  😉

Hey, at least you got close enough to the cliff to take a picture!! Heights don't agree with me & I can never bring myself to get that close to the edge! Probably the best place in the state to take pictures of Peregrines though & a couple years ago there was a Gyrfalcon there as well. I've seen some great shots from there. Just an example;

That is an incredible shot, indeed!  And that Gyrfalcon must've been something to see!

...Thanks for your input.  I know very well that we all have our own personal limitations, so we just do the best we can, for the love of this hobby.  Good luck and happy birding to you!  🙂
