cccougar
I’m torn by which Heron this one is. Photographed a few days ago in Charleston, SC area. Looks too large for Little Blue but doesn’t show the Tri-colored’s white throat and belly. Thanks for any ID help.

Charlie Spencer
@cccougarnote the bi-colored bill, greenish legs, and the lack of white you'd already commented on. Beautiful photos!
lonestranger
It looks like the bird has a broken ankle. If I'm not mistaken, you can see a couple of upturned toes if the first photo, and the injury seems obvious in the in-flight photos. Did you notice the bird appearing handicapped because of the injury, @cccougar?

Did you notice the bird appearing handicapped because of the injury, @cccougar? I did notice that too, thinking it was an awkward flyer. On ground I did not notice a limp.
