sbruenjes
I saw this bird (or birds) today at the Cape May Meadows in southern New Jersey. I'm not sure if these are all of the same bird.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sbruenjes
I have one more, and this one's my favorite... Is it also good for a sharp shinned?
Birding Boy
Yeah, looks great for a Sharpie. Thick caramel colored breast streaking and pushed forward wings. Nice shots! 3

The Bird Nuts
I agree, all Sharp-shinned Hawks. 2
chipperatl
If those are grey cheeks on the first one, and not a trick of shadows, it is Cooper’s Hawk for first and Sharpie for the rest. If it is shadow most everything else would support SSHA. Although that being a young bird would it even show they grey yet????

No, I believe that is only on adult birds. The small head, steep forehead, large, round eye, shorter tail, and barring on the flank all support Sharpie.
