smskelton
For the past two years, this Canyon Towee has been attacking a window at our house. It sees it's reflection in the window and attacks the bird reflection. We have put pictures of hawks behind the window, changed the background, hung CD's from string to reflect the sunlight to show the bird that it is a window, but none of this has worked. It continues to knock itself silly by bashing its beak into the glass knocking itself silly. Does anyone have an idea on how to get the behavior to change? I'm sure this guy has brain damage by now. Charlie Spencer
Does it do it year round, or just in breeding season? If it attacks just a portion of the window, could you temporarily put a piece of cardboard over it outside? @Aveschapines / @Kevin, this might be better suited to 'Backyard Birds'

If I need to move this somewhere else that is fine.

Welcome to WhatBird! I moved this here for a better fit. I've heard of hanging strings a couple of inches apart across the window, but if your other strategies haven't worked I'm not sure if that would too. If it's temporary as mentioned above maybe marking the window temporarily, like with that spray-on Christmas snow or something to make it dirty enough to not be reflective or transparent and invisible?
Seanbirds
BTW, that's actually an Abert's Towhee, not Canyon. Just FYI. ?
smskelton
Thanks. You are correct about the ID. I had not researched the species. BTW, the bird is still here but it's not attacking my window this year. Must have figured it won!
