Nancy
Charlotte NC today Meghann just identified the northern flickers in my backyard but I think this one is different. It’s a bit smaller and doesn’t have the black latch on its chest. Again, apologies for the poor video. I was still sitting on the screened porch. meghann
Hard to tell, but I think you've got your sapsucker. If there was red on top of the head, a big white wing stripe, and a yellow wash to the belly, that I think I can make out. Nancy
That one I’ve seen over the last few days but can never get a good look. It definitely had a yellowish belly though. I’ll keep an eye out. I need to bring my binoculars out here. Thank you!
meghann
I watched it again with lots of pausing, and I'm pretty sure it is, so hopefully you can get a better look!

lonestranger
When shooting through a screen, @Nancy, you might have better luck with your focusing by getting your camera as close to the screen as possible. If you get close enough the camera shouldn't even detect it's there when focusing. The quality might not be any better, but it might prevent the camera from trying to focus on the screen. 4
Charlie Spencer
I agree with Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, along with the Eastern Bluebird visible in the first few seconds. 4
Nancy
@meghann I got a better video of the yellow bellied sapsucker this morning. Matches all of the description you gave 🙂 @lonestranger I was sitting in my porch when it came over and was afraid if moved too much it would fly away. Got this mornings clearer video through a different window.
