@Birding Boy seeing this shot on the top photos made me wonder what would happen to you if there were completely albino redpolls.

Ahhh, another level of complexity added to redpoll identification, I’m loving it ? I think I’d survive, but something like this would give me a small heart attack https://ornosk.com/articles-2/white-redpoll/

We had a leucistic CORE last winter that was initially deemed a Hoary… the nickname is “Angel Redpoll”

more like demon redpoll…

The picture on the neighborhood watch sign looks a bit like a left-facing bird with a cross over it.  "Wow," I would have said, "this place is really serious about loitering birds!"

Almost looks like a kingfisher!

Ducktail Parks at Ducktrail

To the left as we look west on Hwy 46 you will see a smidgen of the River Road Park between traffic and parked cars.  To the right you will see the sidewalk that leads to outdoor customer seating at the Little Gretel Restaurant (Czech and German cuisine) which features roast duck on the menu.  The menu states that duck, beef, sausage, and chicken are sourced from local farms.  No roadkill is served.  I prefer the ribeye steak and cheese sandwich au jus.  It is about ten times better than any Philly cheese steak I have had!  The schnitzel and red cabbage is also phenomenal but I do a better sauerbraten. My mother's maiden name was Altgelt which translates from the German as "old money".  I guess so.  From the 14th century the Altgelts owned the coaching inn, the brewery, and the bakery in a small town in the Rhineland.  They also produced generations of Reform and Evangelical bishops and pastors.  One of them had eighteen children by two wives.  Like Johann Sebastian Bach his organ had no stops!!!

Snowy Egret One Leg

The photo itself isn't funny, but the story behind it is. And I swear this is 100% true.

I was taking photos of this Snowy Egret and two teenage to maybe 20-year-old girls walked by and the one exclaimed "It's a FLAMINGO" and her friend said "Nah, that can't be a flamingo. Can it?"

And I'm just over here like "Lord give me the strength not to start my 'bird educator' mode."

I realize we all have to start somewhere, but a Flamingo? Oh boy.
