Bird near Merritt Is. NWR revisited

I decided to look through my old original pictures again and found that we had just left the NWR area and was in Titusville, FL when that flying picture was taken.  Here's the shot just before the one I posted that we originally thought Turkey Vulture or Crow.  This one was taken just before it took off from a light post.  I didn't save this .jpg because of its poor quality.  To me, it now looks like a Common Grackle.

Crow.  The bill is way too heavy for a grackle, the tail too short, and the bird appears to have a crow's heavier build.

I thought crows had more of a completely dark eye.  This thing looking backward's eye seems to be white or yellow.

I noticed that.  When I zoomed in, I think we're seeing the bird's nictating membrane.  I'm still stuck on the bill.

Good call.  I actually found some shots on the internet that looked just like mine and were labeled Fish Crows.

Bob, be aware it's VERY difficult to tell Fish Crows from American Crows simply from photos.  If you look at some American Crow photos, you'll find plenty that also look like your shot.  Their respective calls are the most reliable way to separate them.  That's why I didn't specify a species, and I suspect that's why @chipperatl didn't either.

Yes.  Needs to be entered as a "/" or "crow sp.".
