Quiscalus quiscula
We heard several faraway hoots(?) spaced ten-ish seconds apart while walking through mixed deciduous and coniferous forest in Schenectady, NY around 3pm. Thought it was an owl, but it doesn't seem to fit any recordings I've listened to. Very difficult to record with my sister's phone, but if you listen carefully you can hear it. Here’s a weird recording I got of one: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/285691261 3 seconds in 2
