Taken on 12-10-2021 at Silverlake Reservoir in Silverlake (Los Angeles), CA.

The three photos of the male are all the same bird.  I believe this is a Greater Scaup, but would like confirmation.

I'm not sure about the female (this is the only angle I have of it).

All are Greater. I’ve observed that foraging Greater’s can appear to have a bump at the back of their crown, like this bird. The male has a wide flair to its nail, and the eye positioning is high.

The male has clearly been foraging and still has a bump towards the back of it's rather slender head. I'd call that Lesser if I saw it, but I'm far from an expert.

Yes the male was actively foraging.
