chipperatl
First rare bird, flagged as rare or either rare for time you sighted in 2022. American Wigeon - 2 of them mixed in with small group of Mallards in the backwater near my backyard.

Eventually he passed over about fifty feet up. Unmistakable adult head and tail. Edited January 1 by Charlie Spencer

Birding Boy
Two Bonaparte's Gulls in my County! Up to five have been recorded at the spot. Tough to find in Michigan in the dead of winter away from lake Erie in Michigan, let alone inland, but the warm weather has helped for sure.

Connor Cochrane
Had a Swamp Sparrow during the king tide in the beginning of the day which is somewhat rare, but the two Pacific Golden-plover near sunset are actually rare.

neilpa
Common Redpolls and one Hoary today. It's turning into a decent irruption winter for redpolls in our area.
Peromyscus
I finally caught up with the wintering Northern Shrike in my county in Maryland, on my fourth try. I located it and got the other two birders with me on it. (I think I saw the shrike a week ago but the views were lousy so I'm not counting it).

Lots of Snowy Owls here in KS this winter, but unfortunately none in my immediate area.

Then one broke away and wasn't a vulture, but a bald eagle, trying to take off with an opossum carcass. Me and the car coming from the other direction stopped and stared for a minute before the eagle gave up and went into a tree. I mean, I know eagles scavenge, I had just never seen it before. Especially with plenty of lakes around with fish.

meghann
While I also got a Snow Goose Monday, it was someone else's find I was just relocationg a few hours later. Today, I found one that seems to be a first county record. https://ebird.org/checklist/S100045888
Clip
Got a good look but no photo of a Prairie Warbler New Years day in our backyard that was flagged rare by ebird. In my north portion of Florida they are rare in winter I guess. Tried for a Brown Creeper yesterday in Alachua County Florida but we did not find it.
