HamRHead
Seen in April, Burke County, GA. I put it on eBird as a Brown-headed. Recently two local birders contacted me thinking that it may be a Pygmy. Pygmy would be very rare for here but strange things do happen. Thanks for your input.
HamRHead
Okay, so it is a recently fledged Brown-headed Nuthatch. I had contacted Liam off forum. He sent me a great link on the young Brown-headed Nuthatch: http://cvwofirstlandingspk.blogspot.com/2008/05/when-is-brown-headed-nuthatch-not.html?m=1 Good stuff. Thanks! 2
Charlie Spencer
Thanks, @Liam ! I'm glad this riddle was solved. I looked at this photo for about 15 minutes this morning and couldn't commit one way or the other. It didn't look right for a mature BHNU, but eBird had no record of a PYNU this side of the Great Plains.
