Snarkhunter
Saw a Bufflehead male and 2 females on my neighbor's lake this morning, first ones I've ever seen. So cool! Also have seen/heard large flights of Snow Geese heading north for the past week, day and night.
Quiscalus quiscula
Mourning Doves are back, Red-winged Blackbirds and Song Sparrows started singing.
Aaron
Saw two California gulls today which are the first migrants I’ve seen this year. One was reported yesterday at the same location that was the first one in the city for 2022. Other than that lots of woodpeckers drumming and I’ve seen quite a few magpies and ravens carrying sticks the last few days.

PalmWarbler
Everyone's singing! Yesterday I heard some woodpeckers drumming, and saw starlings visiting a site they nested in last year.
IKLland
A ton of birds are starting to sing, but I haven’t had any migrants yet.
Clip
I had 1 Brown-headed Cowbird yesterday in our yard. A sign they will likely show up at our feeders in large numbers soon. I had a group of about 30 Cedar Waxwings in our backyard trees yesterday evening. All the year round birds seem to be singing and they are exhibiting nesting behavior. From my experience they start to get uncommon in September, October, and I have yet to see one in my county in November, December or January. Snarkhunter
Saw my first Eastern Towhee (male) this morning, seems to be a bit earlier than last year. Also saw a Herring Gull cruising a shopping center parking lot (he scored a pizza slice) - not a usual sight in my area.

Eastern Towhees are a nemesis of mine.
Quiscalus quiscula
Oh well, I should've remembered spring only really starts in late April here. Outside it looks like winter wonderland, snow has been falling for several hours, and this is probably the fastest build up of snow we've had this winter.

Peromyscus
The light rain here has stopped. I took a 20 minute walk in my neighborhood & local park, and heard a couple of towhees. This is the first time this year I've heard them in my neighborhood, and this is the time of year when they arrive. Also, one of the resident Red-shouldered Hawks was calling high in a tree.
Snarkhunter
It's in the mid-50s here, sunny, but we're expecting snow on Friday and temps in the teens. Then it's supposed to get up to almost 70 by Sunday. Typical Missouri. Had a pair of Pileateds flitting around the house and a bluejay doing a credible imitation of a hawk.

Had my first Pileated of the year in my yard today as it was snowing, and Blue Jays have been imitating hawks a LOT the past few days.
Charlie Spencer
And I still can't buy a Blue Jay sighting. Four all year over four counties, none in my yard where I can often get that many at one time.
