Caley Thomas 2.0
I was thinking Vesper, but is it a yellow-less Savannah perhaps, or something else? Or is this angle not providing enough to be sure? Please advise and thanks! IKLland
Gee, that’s a tough one! Any angles of the tail?
IKLland
Anyway, I am leaning Vesper, as it has a slight eye ring.

I can check when I get home after work today, but not before then unfortunately (but first I have to drive to W. Houston before sunset to try and see that Pacific-slope Flycatcher that showed up if I can :-))

Avery
Yeah, Vesper. For some reason they look a lot like LALOs to me 1

Caley Thomas 2.0
Update: The reviewer had emailed me about this one I just realized, saying it was a Savannah, so I'll just go with the flow on it given he has a "Dr." in his name (just in case it's in ornithology, lol). Birding Boy
I agree with Savannah Sparrow. It’s pretty pale, making the eyeing appear not that distinct.

Haha I thought Savannah too. The more experienced people were saying Vesper's so I thought I was wrong because I have been many times in the past...So I just didn't post.

I thought it looked Savannah-ish, but I struggle telling them apart, especially in the field, so kept my mouth shut. 2

I've been the subject of much gentle ribbing here but I've never seen anyone truly be persecuted. Unlike the rest of the Internet, at Whatbird it's okay both to be wrong and to admit it!
