Dave Umhoefer
Spotted near Menomonee River in Milwaukee today about 8 a.m. Is this a Golden Eagle? Any help appreciated. Dave

IKLland
Yup, a young Red tailed. Golden eagle would be almost entirely dark, and larger.

Mindy Smith
Agree, confusing as they have striped tails. Great photos. Just saw my first young golden and they are very dark with a white tail with a black band (thought I was looking at the rarely seen common black hawk before I got guidance from this group). Cassandra C Antonio
There is a "couple" with what looks like a large nest of sticks, "at least 3 ft across" 1st noticed a month ago, it is continuing to increase in size, we have seen 2 different looking birds, they have a white tail, with white heads 1 is significantly larger than the other, the other couple are close to the same size, hawk like in size. I downloaded a eagle talking and it sounded just like that, then this morning a couple the 1 I saw had a white tail, and they were talking to each other, these are larger birds, SO, I don't know if it's the same couple but they definitely have a white tail.?? Opinions welcome A smaller bird i haven't seen but smaller, it sounds like it's saying, "I PRETTY" ideas??? Haven't been able to get a picture. But I know it was 2 eagles , as they were feeding on a deer carcass someone had thrown in the back of the church, it is a large back yard, live in the country, 17, 000 pop
Avery
Your “I Pretty” bird may be a Black-capped Chickadee: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/217850561

Yes, it sounds like you have a breeding pair of Bald Eagles. Birds that size only share a nest when breeding, and female birds of prey are usually larger than males.
