House Finch?

Recommended Posts

Both are female House Finches.  They appear to be different colors because of differences in the lighting.  There's also the way their holding their feathers - on the second bird, you can see the whitish bars on the wings; on the first bird, she has her side feathers fluffed up over the wings and bars.

Male House Finches have reddish heads. breasts, and rumps (in some locations, they're also orange or yellow).
