AnnDee Posted July 7, 2018 Share Posted July 7, 2018 I photographed this bird at McInnish--Elm Fork Nature Preserve on 7/5/2018. This is in Texas, Dallas county. The time was about 1130 hrs, temp was 90 degrees. the bird appeared to be feeding in leafy shrub type plants about five to ten feet from the ground. Unlike many of the other birds that just roll them around in their mouth until they crack open. Both have bills that are more general purpose than the heavier, cone-shaped bills designed for seed cracking that other feeder birds possess.
