Jim Highberger
Having trouble conclusively identifying hawk in attached pictures. Number of "fingers" on wing tips not consistent with Red-shouldered and wing flex motion seems unusual. Other traits might suggest Red-shouldered but I still am uncertain. Please let me know if I am on the right or wrong track. Thank you!
Jim Highberger
There was another hawk further away that looked similar - only got one photo - please see attached. Sorry about quality.
Birding Boy
Looks like a Broad-winged actually, note the single wide tail band, pale underwings contrasting with a dark trailing edge, and a lack of white wing "crescents" which should be visible in a Red-shouldered from this angle.
The Bird Nuts
Yep, both are Broad-wingeds.
Jim Highberger
Sorry about photos - found a few more that have better detail. I think you are right about Broad-winged - start of migration - I wasn't expecting to see these. Thank you!

Peromyscus
Broad-winged Hawk(s). Soon they will arrive here in Maryland.
MWM
Ironically, I just reported a Broad-wing that turned out to be a Red-shouldered (didn't realize that Broad-wings migrated so much later). (New York State). Note the "crescents" near the wing-tips, but both have very broad wings. ?

RSHA has more black and white bands than BWHA.
