Rufous Hummingbird

Found yet another Hummingbird which I think may be a Rufous. Taken in Southern California last week.

This is a Rufous/Allen’s Hummingbird. Given the location, it’s much more likely an Allen’s.

Aren’t Allen’s only much more common on the coast? Where exactly in SoCal? Either way, without tail shots it’s not possible to tell for sure.

Yes, and at the same time this member has posted ID requests for gulls and terns, so I am assuming this is relatively coastal. And yes, responsibly, it should be left as RUHU/ALHU without tail shots.
