stitch58
A bunch of us watched this Red-tailed Hawk consuming a Mallard Hen. It was sad though because there was a drake hanging around in the pond about 25 yards away. Pretty sure it was his mate being eaten.😦
lonestranger
The Blue Jays and the Red-bellied Woodpeckers are just a few of the birds that have been taking advantage of the last remnants of corn.

JBAS
Saw a male house sparrow feeding a purple martin at my parents' lake place the other day. Guessing it lost its own brood? Or maybe trying to score some points with the landlord? 4

lonestranger
I had the pleasure of watching this Eastern Bluebird chow down on a june bug early one morning last week. He'd pick it up, shake it and bang/throw it on the ground until he broke through the shell, and then he'd pick at the meal hidden inside.

DuffK
My favorites in winter. I have to shoo away the starlings, who leave, but the bluebirds stay.

RobinHood
Yesterday - this heron looked quite pleased with itself whereas an adjacent one looked jealous and thought about trying for a steal. It took five minutes to get it down the hatch. Distant so heavy crops.
