SirVive
Today in the Columbia River Gorge. In a forested creek bottom on the dry side of the mountains. Pretty much a uniform gray bird, maybe a bit darker towards the top. Complete or mostly complete eye ring. At first I thought it was going to be another empid but then it came within 15' or so and (yeah, I know size judgments are a sticky subject but ...) it was much larger than the other empids I also saw in the same place and also the YRWA. I would say a very large sparrow - towhee, smaller than a Robin by a fair margin. This would be a lifer so I just want to make sure I rule out any other possibilities.
