Rick O
I’m not an experienced birder. Today I saw a blue colored bird at our feeder. It had no orange or brown secondary coloring. Web photo search seems to identify it as a mountain blue bird, but I live in Maryland. Is this a geographic rarity, or something common in eastern blue birds? Charlie Spencer
@Rick O, welcome to Whatbird! In Maryland, an Indigo Bunting is the most likely all-blue bird. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Indigo_Bunting @Aveschapines / @Kevin, would you move this to the N.A. ID forum, where it will get more attention? Thanks!
Avery
Indigo Bunting will go to feeders, though in my experience its pretty uncommon. I've only ever had them twice at my feeders.
IKLland
Mountain bluebirds are not in the east. I agree, check out indigo bunting male.

Even the House Sparrows give them a wide berth.

True about the House Sparrows! ? I think its likely just a habitat thing. Our neighbors over the hill have a cow pasture, but it’s pretty small . Gotten me a few yardbirds though! Never even eaten a Slim Jim
