mbrodoff
This thrush was seen in Frick Park Pittsburgh, PA, May 10, 2022. What is it?
IKLland
Swainson’s Thrush. Note the overall Buffy coloration, which rules out hermit thrush. The strong eye ring rules out gray cheeked. The lack of reddish tones overall rule out veery. This leaves us with swainson’s.
mbrodoff
Thanks so much. I had it narrowed down to a veery or a swainsons. The buffy color made me think swainsons, but the muted speckling made me think veery. Never seen a gray cheeked. This is so helpful!

This, although Veerys also lack the prominent eye ring as compared to Swainsons to further help in differentiating between the two...

Yeah, and as stated below, veery also lack the strong eye ring.
