Painted Buntings?  House Finches?

The colors of the birds is all wrong for Painted Buntings and House Finches. The structure is also wrong for any finch.

If you can make out colors, you're ahead of me.  All I see are black silhouettes.

And you have seen how many Painted Buntings? I agree, I think they are most likely Indigo, but I would not make a definite id, from these photos.

These are Indigos. There in the canopy in upstate New York, which already pretty much eliminates Painted, but you can also make out streaking and a contrasting white throat in some photos.

This.

Thanks, painted buntings (I've seen many down south/out west) would be very rare. There were both Indigo Buntings & House Finches, along with about 50 other species at this one spot. Just thought I'd try for an ID 🙂
