Charlie Spencer
Either I've misplaced them in the last three days or someone helped them out my car (usually locked but ?). Considering these 10x42 from Vortex ($500), Kowa ($450), and Snypex ($430 on sale from $600). Thoughts and experiences? Thanks https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1401562-REG/vortex_v201_10x42_viper_hd_binocular.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1521083-REG/kowa_bdii_42_10xd_10x42_bd_ii_xd.html/overview https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1275104-REG/snypex_9042d_ed_10x42_knight_d_ed_binocular.html
Charlie Spencer
Oh, and Steiner Predator that Adorama has used for $270 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1658970-REG/steiner_2059_10x42_predator_binoculars.html
lonestranger
I can't offer any advice on binoculars except to say that the lifetime warranty of some manufacturers would be a big influence on my decision.
JP48
I have a pair of the Vortex 10x42. I've used them hard for several years, and for me they're fine. Of course, I use Vortex for everything (2 scopes, a monocular, my wife's binos, even our son has Vortex binos). I also have an old pair of Diamondbacks, which I did once send in for repair, and that worked out well, except that I ended up dropping them again and eventually replaced them with the Vipers. I don't know much about the other brands, except that many of the birders around me use Kowa scopes, which appear to be excellent.
Charlie Spencer
FOUND 'EM! They weren't in my glove compartment, where I normally keep them. We went to a waterfront place for lunch Sunday, and I'd transferred them in my Darling Bride's car. Since I didn't use them at the restaurant, I forget they were in her car.

Charlie Spencer
Oh, and they're Vortex Viper 10X42s. I didn't mention that initially because I didn't want to skew any feedback. Pretty good chance I'd have reordered them again but it never hurts to check what's out there. Edited May 25 by Charlie Spencer

Great in low light!
