lonestranger
I have a silly question about your game, @Jagularr. When we share our results, there is a bird icon before the game number. Sometimes it's a duck, eagle, owl, swan, etc, etc. Is there a method or pattern used to determine which bird is assigned to the game results or is it strictly a random thing? It doesn't look like it's score related to individual games, which makes me think it's random, or do our previous scores influence which bird we get? Any significance at all with the assigned bird icon or is it just a random (for lack of a better word) decoration? Kevin
11 hours ago, Jagularr said: Hi! I'm glad you all like the historic games feature, I spent the better part of the weekend on it. I also just added 'ranking badges' to the scorecard as a little gimmick, you'll probably notice it tomorrow. I haven't checked this thread in a looooong time, but if you guys have any suggestions for new features or improvements do let me know. Noted. Definitely have room for improvement, this is likely a result of me trying to mix it up. I initially tried to make the game 'harder' when I realized how many people were absolutely acing these, and my goal was to make it just hard enough that the average score is somewhere in the 3-5 range, but it turns out that's difficult. People tend to either nail it immediately or just barely / not at all! I also try to rarely repeat the same species which I'm sure leads to some really obscure birds and polarizing score distributions, which may or may not be a good idea. Next step: create an AI to make the perfect crops 😈 Also, to the handful of people who have sent photo submissions, thank you so much, you guys are killing it and I am using them whenever I can! I like it being harder, an easy one is fun from time to time, but hitting the first guess or two every time gets boring eventually. . Personally, I like it best when the first 3-4 crops don't show too much, making it a challenge, but the last two showing a lot, giving people not very familiar with the bird a chance. 5

Zoroark
birdie 🦆 #277: 🟥🟨🟩⬛⬛⬛ I have not seen this bird. @Jagularr If you wanted an interesting way to switch it up, might I suggest the method the New York Times crossword puzzles are timed? Monday starts easy, then they get more difficult through Saturday. Sunday has a large grid, and Thursday has a trick (such as multiple letters in the same square). Perhaps the analog here could starting with ABA Code 1 birds early in the week, using tricky photos on Thursday, then using ABA Code 4 or 5 on the weekends?

Great question, it is completely random, but now that you mention it that would've been cooler if it had some significance. Maybe I'll start mapping them to the score and you guys will have to figure it out 🙂 13 hours ago, Kevin said: I like it being harder, an easy one is fun from time to time, but hitting the first guess or two every time gets boring eventually. . Makes sense, I will definitely keep this in mind while making these. 11 hours ago, Zoroark said: birdie 🦆 #277: 🟥🟨🟩⬛⬛⬛ I have not seen this bird. @Jagularr If you wanted an interesting way to switch it up, might I suggest the method the New York Times crossword puzzles are timed? Maybe won't do exactly that, but it could be fun to throw in some real 'wild cards' on the weekends only, and start off the week a bit easier. Thanks for the suggestion!!
