Birdie

Recommended Posts

I am curious how so many people could possibly know this bird from the first and second photos. Obviously there are clues in those first photos to solve today's puzzle, but I can't determine what they are. Was it the shape, pattern, colour, or something else in those first two photos that pointed directly to today's answer? Curious minds want to know what I missed.

It was a combination of shape, pattern, color, pose/position, and the photo background that prompted me to type the winning answer.

You missed who the photo was from. Between what information I could glean from the photo, and knowing the person who added the photo, it was the most likely option.

Yeah, the long crossed wingtips, white edging to the feathers and white streaky pattern gave it away for me.

Ah, it was @Birding Boy up in Michigan. Yeah, that probably would've been a hint if I checked first.

How??

Many many hours of looking at field guides, years of watching almost every thread on this forum, lots of on the field birding, and a somewhat lucky guess.

That's 4 years of study just to get a green box on the first guess on birdie, seems like a wast of time doesn't it?
