As an Eastern birder, that first piece of the photo didn't help me at all.

Sorry to disappoint you.Β  Maybe if the bird had been properly colored ('properly colored' defined as how they appear on the correct side of the Mississippi ('correct' defined as 'East' :classic_tongue:) ).

It doesn't help that I was looking at a photo of an American Kestrel (my first guess) before opening Birdie.

That was my first guess too. I just clicked through the second photo because it was even less helpful than the first but knew what I was looking at by the third piece of the puzzle.
