I was imagining a »much smaller« bird. These birds are quite noisy.

Even birds I've seen a lot can stump me when the game starts with a feature I don't typically look at unless it's the key differentiator between two very similar species. Heck, I should've gotten that Baird's Sandpiper on the first guess because of the gray legs, but I figured they were black in bright lighting and went with some plover, followed up with the Semipalmated and Western Sandpipers.

I guess my biggest takeaway from this game is I need to study tails and talons for different families.
