My guess was based strictly on the environment, and I suspect I wasn't the only one who took that same guessing by environment approach.

Also the fleshy pink legs combined with the slate-gray feathers was a huge giveaway for me.

With the exception of a few unique birds, I am a long way from IDing birds by leg/feet colour.

Zoroark
birdie 🦆 #185: 🟥🟥🟥🟩⬛⬛ I was imagining a »much smaller« bird. These birds are quite noisy. 4 hours ago, lonestranger said: With the exception of a few unique birds, I am a long way from IDing birds by leg/feet colour. Even birds I've seen a lot can stump me when the game starts with a feature I don't typically look at unless it's the key differentiator between two very similar species. Heck, I should've gotten that Baird's Sandpiper on the first guess because of the gray legs, but I figured they were black in bright lighting and went with some plover, followed up with the Semipalmated and Western Sandpipers. I guess my biggest takeaway from this game is I need to study tails and talons for different families.
