I know I have seen and photographed at least 9 species with Common in their name, but as usual, my poor organization skills makes it hard for me to find them all.

My Common Yellowthroat.

When I finally got a good look at this bird, I was disappointed by the "common" name.  How about the "Rare Spectacular Yellowthroat"?  You're not common to me, bird.

Really? I see them everywhere, especially in a somewhat marshy habitat.

Yeah they are on like at least 80% of my checklists if not more.

They are not so common everywhere, I only see a few every year.

Carolina Wrens are scare in my area. If you go like an hour or two south though they are really common.

Exactly my point, a bird might be really common in one spot, and two hours away you can't find one. Just because a bird is common around you does not mean it is so in other places.
